Analisa began studying ballet at the age of nine, subsequently studying other dance forms, including modern, jazz, and Bharatnatham (Classical East-Indian dance). She began studying flamenco dance in 1992, initially training in Chicago with Edo Sie and Azucena Vega. Analisa went on to participate in numerous workshops throughout the country, studying with such Flamenco legends as La Tati, Alejandro Granados, Andres Marin, Timo Lozano, and Belen Fernandez. And in 1996, she ventured to Madrid to study at the Amor de Dios Flamenco dance studio.
During her career, Analisa performed at a variety of venues throughout the country. As a member of Azucena Vega’s company Soul & Duende: Flamenco-Jazz Fusion, she performed in Chicago at the Chopin Theater and Harold Washington Library. In 1997, she and her partner Nelson Sitton founded the company Jaleo Arte Flamenco, appearing at the Hot House, Vittum Theater, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Theater in Chicago. While completing her Ph.D. in Visual Studies at the University of California, Irvine, Analisa performed with Nancy Ruyter’s Spanish Dance company of UC, Irvine, appearing at the Irvine Barclay Theater.
Analisa has also studied the history of flamenco, and embraces all forms of flamenco, both light and profound, traditional and modern.
